Milan Mayor Giuliano Pisapia has sent personnel and equipment to help Genoa after the port city was hit by killer floods.

As soon as Genoa mayoress Marta Vincenzi pleaded for help, Milan sent a team of municipal policemen and civil defence workers to help the local forces, particularly in forming anti-looter patrols.

Two specialised technicians, 13 civil defence volunteers and 17 municipal policemen made up the team, taking with them four cars, two pumps, 30 camp beds, 30 sleeping bags, six trucks and various equipment.
