Rehearsals for charity at La Scala

Tickets are in hot demand for rehearsals, open to the public and in support of charity, at Milan’s world-famous Teatro alla Scala.

Under the headline “La Scala’s Philharmonic Orchetra meets the city”, reasonably priced tickets for this fascinating glimpse behind the scenes are still available for Thursday 21 April and Sunday 19 May.

On 21 April, the orchestra conducted by Juraj Alchua will be rehearsing pieces from Dvorak and Strauss with ‘cello soloist Narek Hakhnazaryan.  The proceeds will support the non-profit association “Pane Quotidiano” (Daily Bread), which every day provides free food to between 2,500 and 3,000 needy – the elderly, unemployed and immigrants.

The 19 May event will see Ottaviano Dantone conducting the Philharmonic with soprano soloist Marina Rebeka rehearsing arias by Handel and Mozart.  This time the proceeds will be dedicated to the non-profit “Cena dell’Amicizia” (Friendship Dinner), providing food, lodging and advice to the needy since 1968.

Tickets starting at €5 (plus booking fee) are available from Vivaticket and GetTicket websites.
