From Research to Design

4-23 September 2012. Triennale displays this exhibition, entitled From Research to Design, which offers a special journey through future architecture in China.

On display are a series of successful projects by Oriental architects, who are particularly active in the cultural milieu linked to the Tongji University of Shanghai.

The theoretical research on architecture and design as well as the building practices currently find a fertile ground in contemporary China and particularly in Shanghai, centre of the debate on urban development and architecture. Over the past years the Tongji University has signed some important agreements with the engineering and architecture courses of the University of Pavia for the exchange of students and faculties. In fact, the University of Pavia is internationally renowned for its innovative research in the fields of attention to details, sustainable development and innovation of materials.

This exhibition will be inaugurated with a conference, held by the Chinese architect Wang Shu, who was awarded in 2012 with the Pritzker Prize, considered the Nobel Prize for Architecture.
