15 Feb-15 Apr 2009. On display is the series A Message for You by the French photographer Guy Bourdin who lived in France during the reactionary post-war period of the 1950s in which taboo and censorship prevailed and when he was inspired by his mentors Man Ray, Magritte and Balthus. This cycle is part of his mature production of the 1970s when his photos registered the social changes of the time, such as the sexual freedom and the excesses of consumption. The section Unseen presents a series of works from his private archive.
