Ninth edition of national exhibition
Splendid examples of one of Italy’s most fascinating crafts will be on exhibition in Milan’s city centre from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 October.
At the “Masters of the Jewel” show, leading goldsmiths will reveal the secrets of their craft, which has deep roots in local skill and regional specialties, enriched by technical innnovation.
The exhibition will gleam with precious stones, sparkle with emeralds and lapis lazuli, glitter with rubies, coral, sapphires, moonstones, freshwater pearls crafted into rings, necklaces and earrings. The exhibition will display the purity and colours of precious stones, the wonder of carving and decoration, the warm, dark tints of ebony, ivory, wood and noble metals.
The show will also host the prize competition named for Jacopo da Trezzo, the 16th-century Italian sculptor believed to have been the first to cut a diamond, and whose work is still an inspiration to today’s master jewellers, who will compete for the award of “A Jewel for Expo 2015”.
Masters of the Jewel is open on Friday from 15.00 to 19.30 and on Saturday and Sunday from 09.30 to 19.30.
