Milan’s museums open free on Sunday

2 July. Ministry of Culture initiative.

Milan is again adhering to the culture ministry’s call to open all museums free of charge on the first Sunday of every month this year.

From the Museum of Modern Art to the Museum of Archaeology, from the Aquarium to the Planetarium to the Museo dei Bambini, there is culture, education, activity and fun for all ages in the city’s wide range of collections.

Booking is necessary only for Leonardo’s Cenacolo (Last Supper) in the Oratorio in Piazza S. Maria delle Grazie, as the viewing area there is severely restricted. Bookings are accepted by phone on tel. 0292800360, or online from VivaTicket.

Optional booking is recommended at the prestigious Pinacoteca di Brera on 02 9280 0361. Here the fourth in the dialogue series, "Around Lotto", will be showcasing paintings from the museum's own collection in dialogue with other guest pictures.

There is a list of Milan’s civic museums, with information and details of ongoing and future events, on the dedicated page of the city hall website.
