Seasonal music in sacred settings.
Among the many concerts being offered around the city, two are in settings particularly dear to milanesi – in the basilica of Milan’s patron saint St Ambrose and the church of S. Antonio Abbate.
The first, on Friday 18 December at 21.00 in the basilica, will feature Ukrainian violinist Anastasiya Petryshak, one of the few musicians allowed to play the priceless original Stradivarius instruments held in the Violin Museum in Cremona.
Accompanied by the Cantelli Orchestra, she will execute J.S. Bach’s Air on the G String, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and Schubert’s Ave Maria.
The evening will begin with a seasonal toast at 19.30. Entrance will be free, but booking with the Enzo Hruby Foundation – patron of the concert – is obligatory: tel. 02 38036625
On Saturday 19 December at 16.00, the cultural cycle “Music for the Soul” featuring young Russian musicians will conclude with a concert in the church of S. Antonio Abbate in Via S. Antonio.
Mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Adamova will be accompanied on the antique Mozart organ by Marimo Toyoda, violinist Ruben Giuliani and on the trumpet by Dariya Moskvina. The programme will include works by Pergolesi, Bach and Handel.
Entrance is by a free donation; booking is required on tel. 331 5825334.
