The junta of the new major of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, has recently processed a new plan for cycling mobility, which foresees the construction of 100 kilometers of new cycling lanes around Milan within 2016.
Great importance is given to the Castello Sforzesco-Duomo-Monforte route, which was already financed by the previous Moratti administration.
Milan has currently 135 kilometers of cycling lanes (110 km on the streets and the rest in the parks).
Of the 100 kilometers of new cycling lanes and paths planned by the junta Pisapia, 75 kilometers were already financed by the former major Moratti. The new lanes will be organized in rays and rings and will be distinguished by colours (green, red and blue) in order to create a modern cycling network, which will substitute the actual fragments of cycling lanes.
