Milanese conductor Claudio Abbado is to donate 220 ash trees to Milan city council. The trees will be planted along the very central Via Dante, which connects Castello Sforzesco to the cathedral, or Duomo. The cost will be met entirely by Abbado himself and by a high-profile committee headed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano, which supports him in this initiative.

The trees are part of a broader project by Abbado to plant 90,000 trees and shrubs in Milan
