Area C suspended

The Milan Congestion Charge Zone - the restricted traffic area "Area C" in the centre of the city - has been suspended by the State Council. The suspension was announced on 25 July by Milan city council.

The State Council upheld the appeal of a car repair garage, Mediolanum Parking, situated in the centre of the restricted traffic area. The ruling of the administrative court has immediate effect; from Thursday 26 July, the traffic restrictions are suspended and the control cameras turned off.

The summer suspension of "Area C" for August was already scheduled, but at this point the congestion charge zone, which came into force on 16 January 2012, will remain suspended at least until the middle of September.
