Scandinavian exhibit in time for vacation planning
For three days from 9 to 11 May, Milan city centre will be transformed into a corner of Scandinavia, offering a taste of Nordic life in design, food, music, literature and environment.
The festival “Be Nordic” will be offered by the combined efforts of the four official tourist authorities VisitDenmark, Visit Finland, Innovation Norway and Visit Sweden to discover the common aspects and the differences to southern Europe.
Palazzo Giureconsult in central Piazza dei Mercanti will be set up along Scandinavian architectural limes with four thematic areas: activities, culture, kids and Travel Café. In the first, action will include a stage for live music, show-cooking, language lessons, presentations and workshops.
The culture area will have a chill-out zone to check out Scandinavian literature and audiovisuals. While the kids are discovering the world of Nordic fables, parents can visit the Travel Café to learn more about Scandinavian traditions and chat with tourism specialists and operators about travel in the region.
The activity starts on Friday afternoon with a live gig by musicians from the Faroe Islands and a show-cooking event combining Norwegian food with wine from Italy’s Marche region.
On Saturday evening, a maxi-screen will carry the finals of the European Song Contest 2014, hosted this year by Denmark, starting at 20.00 with a compilation of ESC winners from 1956 on, and then joining this year’s finals live from Copenhagen at 21.00. Entry is free.
A full programme of events is on the Be Nordic website.
