Friday 29 November will see scores of Milan parents taking their kids to primary school by bike, aiming to create a “critical mass” to encourage city hall to pay more attention to road safety.
The volunteer organisation “In bici a scuola”, which provides expert outriders to accompany organised groups of parents, says the initiative is going to take place simultaneously in several Italian cities from Milan to Naples, from Rome to Bologna.
Up to now, seven “convoys” are planned in Milan; others may be added on their Facebook page. Starting at 08.00, groups will set off from these meeting points:
Parco Solari for schools in Via Bergognone and Via Ariberto
M1 station Gorla for the school in Via G. Mattei
Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie for the school in Via Sant’Orsola
Largo Zandonai/Via Panzini for the school in Via Rasori
Piazza Tommaseo for the school in Via Ruffini
Via Cuccagna for the school in Via Colletta
Piazza Dergano for the school in Via Guicciardi
