From 21-24 February the Fieramilano at Rho will be hosting the international tourism fair (Borsa Internazionale del Turismo), the biggest international event promoting Italian tourism. Here some 2,500 stallholders meet about 600 international delegations.
According to BIT figures last year 61 per cent of the operators come from Europe; the next largest section was from Africa, with 12.9 per cent, then Asia with 8.8 per cent and South America with 7.3 per cent. The remainder was split between North and Central America, Oceania and the Caribbean.
The organisers are expecting delegations from 152 countries. The new countries that will visit for the first time this year are Togo, Nicaragua, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Serbia.
