Bloomberg recommends Milan for Valentine’s Day break

For “one perfect day or a full weekend away”.

The prestigious US-based news site Bloomberg has put Milan on its list of “28 perfect dates around the world” for readers seeking a romantic spot to take their Valentine.

Unsurprisingly, the article recommends shopping in the Monteleone-Spiga fashion zone, and visits to the Teatro alla Scala and the Pinacoteca Brera (pictured). And (perhaps for the well-heeled) the central Bvlgari Hotel, says Bloomberg, is the place to stay – particularly because of its restaurant with three-star chef Niko Romito and his “recodified” versions of the classics, from lasagne to veal Milanese and, of course, tiramisu.

For those seeking a longer, weekend getaway (even though Valentine’s Day this year falls on a Thursday), the reviewer points out that it’s a mere four-hour drive to the Dolomite ski resorts, with “country-chic” rooms, spas and saunas.

Milan, the reviewer says, is up there with the likes of St Petersburg, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Lisbon, Dublin and 22 more.
