Champions League trophy on display in Milan

City Hall hosts Champions League Cup.

The original trophy for the winners of the Champions League, to be played in Milan’s S. Siro stadium on 28 May, is on view free for visitors in city hall this weekend.

On Friday 22 April the silver cup was paraded through the city streets in a special van from the grounds to Palazzo Marino. It will remain on view until 20.00, and then on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 20.00.

Also on display will be the women’s soccer league trophy, to be awarded to the winners of the European final to be played in Reggio Emilia on 26 May.

And a further treat for fans in city hall’s Sala Alessi will be a screening of the finals won by Milan and Inter clubs. Neck and neck with Madrid, Milan is the city with the most European championship wins: seven by Milan and three by Inter.

Milan will see a number of events in the run-up to the final in May, promised councillor Chiara Bisconti, including the decking out of the city centre in UEFA colours and a chance to play football in the Castello Sforzesco, along with other surprises.
