Chinese mobsters nabbed in Milan

Police make dawn raid in Milan’s Chinatown.

Hundreds of Italian police on Thursday 18 January arrested 33 persons in Milan, Prato, Rome, Florence, Padua and Pisa on charges of belonging to a criminal organisation. More arrests were carried out in other European countries, in particular in France and Spain.
A further 21 people are currently under investigation.
The alleged mobsters were understood to be in charge of an organisation controlling the transport and distribution of articles made in China or by Chinese in Italy. They are also believed to be involved in prostitution and drug trafficking.
Operation “China Truck” was the result of investigations which started out in Prato, near Florence, in 2011, police told media. Prato is known for its large Chinese ethnic community, mostly working in the clothing trade.
