For the second year running, a series of free concerts will serenade travellers in Milan’s central railway station in the run-up to Christmas.
From gospel to swing, from rock to pop, nine concerts will ring through the atrium at 19.00 every evening from 12 to 20 December.
Gospel quintet BlackInWhite will start the ball rolling with Christmas classics. The following evening, the Laures Pallas will make music from the most unexpected hardware, including toys. They will be followed on 14 December by Ministri, a successful Italian rock band, playing here on accoustic instruments. Next, the cast of the successful musical Alice in Wonderland, which is sceduled to open in Milan in March, will perform a selection of numbers from the show.
On Sunday 18 December, singer-songwriter Omar Pedrini will perform some of his latest successes. The following evening is dedicated to Amour Fou, runners-up for the Best Album of the Year section of the Tenco Prize awards. The series will close with Io? Drama, an alternative rock group enjoying increasing successes.
Grandi Stazioni, the management company running Milan’s Central Station as well as 12 other major rail stations in Italy, hopes the concerts will help bring Christmas shoppers to the over 75 shops of all kinds present in the station and open from 08.00 to 22.00 every day of the year offering everything from fashion to toys, books to jewelry, snacks to travel agencies.
