Enjoy Scooter sharing, which is expected to get the contract for the first scooter sharing scheme in Milan, showed off its new vehicle in the city on 9 June. The scooters are the three-wheel Piaggio Mp3, which can be driven with the normal B driving licence (minimum age 18 years old).
Enjoy, the car-sharing facility operated by the Italian petro-chemicals group ENI, has plans for 150 scooters in the city but its scheme still has to have the final approval of the city administration.
Scooter sharing was planned to launch in March, before the opening of Expo 2015, with Enjoy and Barcelona's Motit thought to be the two contenders. But at present only Enjoy, in partnership with Piaggio, has put in an official application.
Among the problems that still have to be solved are those of parking and the use of helmets.
The scooter sharing facility will be the first in Europe once it starts.
Enjoy already operates car sharing in Milan along with the GuidaMi, Twist and Car2Go.
