Expo Gate to open in Castle Square

With a year to go before Expo2015

10 May sees the opening ceremony of Expo Gate, the information stand for next year’s world exhibition, on Milan’s central Piazza Castello.

The futuristic double structures on the newly-pedestrianised square will be formally inaugurated on Saturday 10 May with a street parade starting out from Piazza S. Babila. They will provide information on Expo in several languages for residents, tourists and business visitors, as well as ticket sales.

Next to the square in Via Beltrami visitors will find screening of videos on Expo 2015, street food by chefs Berton, Cracco and Oldani, and a DJ-set and live music. Saturday will also be the last day of the Lego kids’ party, with 200 sqm of tables and games, open from 10.00 to 22.00. And the winning entries to the outdoor furnishing design competition will be exhibited in the square for one final day.

On Sunday 11 May Cyclopride Day will see a 16-km. ride, open to all, start from Expo Gate at 11.00. If you’d like to take part but haven’t got a bike, ATM’s BikeMI is offering a free day’s ride to subscribers and to anybody who signs up for a subscription at the special discounted rate of €25 instead of the usual €36. At 12.00 Bimbinbici will welcome young pedalers, and at 14.00 the brass band of Oltrepò Mantovano and the laVerdi Orchestra will provide the sound-track to an afternoon of kids’ games.
