Free heart screening by Milan Red Cross chapter

28 to 30 September in Piazza Beccaria in Milan.

The Milan chapter of the Italian Red Cross will offer free screening to the public in a stand on Piazza Beccaria, at a stone’s throw from the Duomo, to mark World Heart Disease Day

Qualified doctors and nurses will carry out a blood test, measure blood pressure and oxygen saturation, and perform an ECG (electrocardiogram) to identify risk factors and suggest adjustments to the patient’s lifestyle, where necessary.

The event will publicise the importance of prevention, the best weapon against heart diseases which caused some 9,900 deaths in Milan alone in 2015, or 30 deaths in every 10,000 residents.
