Italy vs Germany: transport strike off

Milan has been exempted from the nationwide local transport strike called for Friday 15 November, in view of the Italy-Germany match at S. Siro stadium at 20.45.

In a meeting with prefect Paolo Tronca, union representatives agreed that it would risk chaos to adhere to the strike, especially since the major union federation CISL was also planning a demonstration march led by secretary Susanna Camusso on Friday morning.

ATM services – buses, trams and metro – will therefore run without interruption, although the strike will go ahead in the rest of Lombardy. Trenord, for example, will strike between 10.00 and 14.00.

Trenitalia’s Frecce and other long-distance services will not be affected.
