Local transport strike in Milan

Public transport strikes Tuesday 14 April.

Workers of Milan’s transport authority ATM will down tools on Tuesday 14 April from 08.45 to 15.00. Both surface transport – buses and trams – and the underground metro system will halt, disrupting commuters’ arrival at the workplace.

Milan Design Week will get off to a shaky start as delays and interruptions will be caused across the city. But since the action has been called by only one union, the CUB Transporti, it is unlikely to cause a total stillstand.

This is the second such protest after the similar protest on 30 March over a heavy workload, frequent calls for overtime, and worries about the overload during the six months of Expo.

ATM has promised frequent updates in real time on their Twitter account at @atm_informa.
