Lombardy traffic block suspended from Friday

After Greater Milan pollution level drops for two days.

Milan has announced that the traffic block activated earlier this week will be relaxed from Friday 27 October, after the PM10 pollution level has dropped for two consecutive days in the Greater Milan metropolitan area.

Diesel-powered vehicles for transport of persons with engines up to and including class Euro 4 can thus return to the city streets.

The permanent block remains in place for motorists in the city’s central “Area C” limited traffic zone, applying to diesel vehicles without DPF particulate filter (also known as FAP filters) of classes up to and including Euro 4.

If the pollution level should rise again, for example if there is no rain or high wind to clean the air, the block may be reimposed.
