International Workers’ Day in the city
The parade celebrating Thursday’s public holiday will start from Piazza 24 Maggio at 15.00, when a cortège of music, dancing, slogans and floats will head for the Sforzesco castle park.
No time has been set for the end of the evening’s entertainment, but in the past the music has usually continued until late in the evening.
The more solemn version, led by labour union leaders, will start out from Porta Venezia at 09.00 and wend its way to Piazza La Scala, where the secretaries of the Milan chapters of union federations CGIL, CISL and UIL will address the public.
Updated information will be published on the Facebook page for the events.
Transport authority ATM advises that metro and surface services – buses and trams – will run from 07.00 to 19.00.
Many ATM-managed car-parks will be open free, but users are advised to take note of the opening times before leaving their vehicles, as these in some cases will be shorter than usual.
