More requests for filming in Milan every year.
Milan is chosen as a location for movie and advertising spot shooting by an ever increasing number of filmmakers well over one every day of the year, according to city hall.
Up to the end of July, 376 permits this year were issued for filming movies, spots, documentaries, TV series, TV fictions, video clips and more, including 44 requests from outside Italy.
Just over 200 of these (including 18 foreign filmmakers) were for advertising and fashion shoots. Another 29 were for long or short movies, 59 for TV series, fiction and talk-shows, 35 for documentaries, 36 for educational works and 14 for social spots.
The most popular locations were Piazza del Duomo, the Vittorio Emanuele gallery and Piazza della Scala, followed by the Sforza castle, and Arco della Pace and the Sempione park.
If the trend continues until the end of the year, city hall estimates that more permits will be issued than in all the five preceding years.
