Milan buses, trams, metro to strike

4-hour downtime on Monday 21 January.

Labour unions have called a national four-hour strike on Monday 21 January to protest new European rules on maximum working shifts for drivers and rest periods.

In Milan, the strike will involve union members working on the ground and onboard buses, trams and metro trains from 08.45 to 12.45.

The industrial action will also involve staff of Autoguidovie and Star, who operate some peripheral routes under contract to Milan transport authority ATM.  The lines affected are 201, 220, 230, 328, 423, 431 and 422. Service on these lines will be guaranteed until 08.29 and from 12.30 to the end of the day.

Line 965 operated by Star will not run between 18.00 and 22.00.

Protesters will observe different times in other cities across the country.
