For the second year running, Milan city hall has announced a rich programme of hundreds events throughout the city, most of them free, under the banner Biancoinverno.
Quoting the American scholar Mary Ellen Chase, who famously said “Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind,” quality of life assessor Chiara Bisconti presented the programme which is aimed particularly at kids. “We’ll have Christmas markets in every zone,” she said, “and the squares will be lit up with music, plays and games. And there will be two Xmas trams for the youngest ones where they can draw, listen to fairy tales and learn how to recycle books.”
And we’ve thought of the grown-ups, too, she added: the programme will provide plenty of ideas for parents and carers anxious to find activities to keep children busy during the school holidays.
The programme will last up to the end of the year, and further events are constantly being added as the borough committees weigh in with their suggestions. An overview of the programme starts here on the city hall website, and a separate page has a convenient breakdown by city zone.
