Italy’s foreign ministry has confirmed the identity of four Lombardy residents, two from Milan and two from Voghera, among the over 80 killed in last Thursday’s terror attack in Nice.

Mario Casati (photo right), 90, and his partner Graziella Ascoli (photo left), 76, were said to be frequent visitors to the French resort. This time they had travelled together with their friends, Angelo D’Agostino and Gianna Muset from Voghera, and all four are now confirmed among the dead. The holiday was planned to celebrate the retirement of D’Agostino.

Together with Carla Gaveglio, 48, from Cuneo province in Piedmont, and Nicholas Leslie, 20, an Italo-American born in Milan but studying in California, this brings the total of identified Italians killed in the massacre to six.

The victims’ families have been notified, and are being supported by staff of the Italian consulate in Nice and the foreign ministry crisis unit in Rome.

Another 74 injured victims of the terror attack are in hospital in Nice, 19 of them still in danger.
