Milan launches Expo in città

A calendar of events for the city and for visitors

Milan city hall has launched the website Expo in Città, a calendar of events taking place around the city and its hinterland during the six-month period of Expo 2015.

At exactly a month until the opening ceremony at the Rho fairgrounds, the bilingual site already guides visitors and milanesi through the events on offer, from art exhibits and theatre to fashion shows, design appointments and sport, to kids’ activities.

Month by month, six icons and ten keywords guide visitors through a programme with thousands of events.

The calendar already includes over 7,000 activities in categories including performance, art, media, creativity and style, Leonardo, kids, science, well-being, Città mondo and – in tune with Expo 2015 – Feed the Planet, and more are being added continually. The calendar, at present only in Italian until the English version is uploaded, can be browsed by date, category, and free or paid entry.

Described by the management as “a living organism”, Expo in Città offers help in finding and contacting partners and sponsors for organising events, and ensuring international publicity for entries in its calendar. Approved initiatives will be able to sport the Expo in Città logo on their location and publicity. The website includes a form for submitting an event for official approval.

The project also manages an online catalogue of the venues and locations available to host events, offering support for associations, groups and companies in obtaining the permits and licenses required.

The website is backed up by the “Expo in Città Lounge” in the former Cobianchi hotel in the central Piazza Duomo, a public space where cultural events and info points will be open all day, every day with free Wi-fi, a comfort zone and a shopping area and coffee bar.
