4 Feb. Free access on first Sunday of the month.
Milan museums will again adhere to the #domenicalmuseo initiative promoted by the culture ministry, opening free on the first Sunday of the month.
All of the city’s major museums, as well as some smaller ones, will welcome individual visitors and family groups on Sunday 4 February.
A new entry to the initiative is the Armani/Silos in Via Bergognone, 40, offering a selection of the world-renowned couturier’s creations from the 1980s to the present, in 4,500 sqm over four levels.
Almost all museums require no booking. The only exception is Leonardo’s Last Supper, known in Italian as the Cenacolo, which restricts the number of visitors at any one time to protect the fragile masterpiece from damaging changes in the air around it.
The delicate 15th-century mural, almost 9 mt wide, was painstakingly restored over 21 years and re-opened to the public in 1999. It is housed in the refectory of the convent of S. Maria Delle Grazie. Booking on the Vivaticket website.
