Milan open for August

Defying the stereotype which claims that Italy closes down in August, thousands of Milan businesses have adhered to city hall’s call to stay open during the summer vacations.

Clothing outlets, dentists, copy shops, groceries, pharmacies or tobacconists – just about any kind of business determined to keep working for milanesi obliged to stay in the city can be found on an interactive map.

Under the headline “Milano aperta d’Agosto”, Milan’s city council has organised the collection of details of those businesses keeping their shutters up, and is welcoming new additions to the database every day.
