Milan plans wave of summer music

Milan schedules hundreds of concerts, from classical to soul.

Music lovers of every taste will be spoiled for choice in Milan this summer, as the annual programme of concerts gets under way.

Starting on Wednesday and Thursday, 8-9 June, the traditional RadioItalia Live free open-air concerts in the city’s central Piazza del Duomo will bring artists of the calibre of Alessandra Amoroso, Annalisa, Fedez, Lorenzo Fragola, J-Ax, Francesca Michielin, Noemi, Laura Pausini and Enrico Ruggeri on the first evening, and Biagio Antonacci, Malika Ayane, Elisa, Emma, Marco Mengoni, Negramaro, Francesco Renga, Zero Assoluto, Alessio Bernabei on the second, both starting at 20.00.

Metro lines M1 and M3 will run until 01.00 on both nights to help revellers reach home safely.

And the cathedral square will again be the setting on Sunday 12 June at 21.30 for the annual Concerto per Milano, when Ricardo Chailly will conduct the La Scala Philharmonic with solo pianist Martha Argerich.

The “MilanoInNota” programme sponsored by city hall this year counts over 300 pop-rock, classical, jazz and more events – many of them free – in over 50 locations around the metropolitan area, almost every day until 10 September.
