Milan taxis support nation-wide strike call

Milan a whole day without taxis.

Milan taxis are supporting the union's call for a nationwide, full-day strike on Thursday 14 December, lasting from 08.00 to 22.00. The union is protesting against the government's efforts to de-regulate the service which it claims will be to the advantage of companies such as Uber.

At 10.00 taxis will demonstrate in Piazza Città di Lombardia, outside the Lombardy regional administration, parking in Via Pola.  A protest convoy will proceed at 13.30 from Piazza Duca d’Aosta to city hall in Piazza della Scala and remain there until 16.00.

A note from the unions says: “Taxi company employees are aware that the future of the companies and the economic sustainability of their families are on the line. They say ‘No’ to technological slave labour.”
