This year’s Women’s Fashion in Milan starts 19 September at 21.00 in Piazza d’Armi, next to Castello Sforzesco, with a theatrical and dance show by Enzo Cosimi, entitled Calore (Heat). On 22 September at 18.30 there is a presentation of the musical Saturday Night Fever, which will debut at the National Theatre of Milan on 18 October. From 19 to 22 September the Mondadori Bookstore of Piazza Liberty will host Milan Fashion & Design, a series of free meetings with city’s choreographers and actors. On 20 September Palazzo Reale will inaugurate an exhibition by the fashion photographer Juergen Teller, which runs until 4 November. On 21 September at 20.00 Palazzo Reale will host a special evening in memory of the Italian journalist and fashion icon, Anna Piaggi, who has died recently.
Milan’s councillor for culture, fashion and design, Stefano Boeri, has said that in a moment of economic crises, the city must support the world of fashion. Milan and the national chamber of fashion are about to sign a three-year programme in which the city organises more art and cultural events in support of the various fashion weeks and the national chamber of fashion agrees to sponsor the restoration and conservation of some historic monuments and buildings in Milan.
