“Outstanding achievement” by Milan designer.
Miuccia Prada, head designer of the world-famous, Milan-based luxury fashion brand Prada and founder of subsidiary house Miu Miu, is to be honoured in London on 10 December.
In a ceremony at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, the British Fashion Council will present Mrs Prada (pictured), granddaughter of founder Mario Prada, with the Outstanding Achievement Award during the Fashion Awards 2018.
The Award celebrates the overwhelming creative contribution to the fashion industry of an individual who throughout their illustrious career has constantly shaped and reshaped the fashion world through their innovation and creativity. Previous winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award include: Donatella Versace, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld, Dame Anna Wintour OBE, Terry and Tricia Jones and Manolo Blahnik CBE, to name only a few.
Stephanie Phair, Chairman British Fashion Council commented: “Mrs Prada’s intuition for the zeitgeist and her blending of multiple creative disciplines including fashion design, art and architecture since the beginning have made her a pioneering force in our industry. I am truly looking forward to celebrating Mrs Prada’s outstanding contribution to the industry on 10 December.”
Caroline Rush, CEO British Fashion Council said: “We are thrilled to be honouring Miuccia Prada with the Outstanding Achievement Award for being an incredible design maverick and for spearheading the evolution of the Prada group from a family business to a global brand.”
And Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski Executive Board which co-hosts the awards ceremony, described Miuccia as unquestionably one of the most influential designers in fashion history. “A true visionary, her dedication to fashion as an art form is endlessly inspirational,” Swarovski sold media.
