Milky Way leads to Milan

FAI inaugurates Via Lattea 2014

Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) launched this year’s Via Lattea (Milky Way) events in Milan on Sunday 4 May with a day dedicated to reconnecting the city with its agricultural surroundings. The countryside invaded the city centre with a programme full of initiatives and events, guided tours explored the city parks, and four bicycle routes of landscape and cultural interest discovered new areas of environmental value in the city.

The Via Lattea initiative, launched in 2011, continues through the summer with more Sundays dedicated to the navigable rivers and canals which were once an essential network of transport throughout the region.

More dates to mark in your calendar are 11 and 18 May and 21 and 28 September, all in the run-up to Expo 2015, with its theme of feeding the world. FAI has set up info points around the city, but you can consult the programme of events on the dedicated website.
