Price hikes for Milan commuters from 1 September

Milan’s transport authority ATM has announced price hikes from 1 September on the SITAM network beyond the city centre.
The rises will not affect urban traffic within Milan itself, or on the route to Rho-Fiera, but will apply to routes in the outer metropolitan area, where most bus operators are members of the SITAM network.  Ticket prices will be affected for travelling to and from towns in the area known as “urban + 1 zone”, e.g. Cologno, Sesto San Giovanni and San Donato, and “urban + 1½ zones” like Cinisello, Assago and Rozzano.  The hikes in the first group will be from €1.50 to €1.55, and in the second from €1.90 to €1.95.
Tickets already held may be used up to 30 September, and exchanged for new ones from 1 October at ATM offices.  Annual season-tickets bought before the price-hike comes into effect may still be used up to their expiry date.
Full details of the new price structures are available on the ATM website.  The site also offers downloadable leaflets covering such money-savers as annual season-tickets, extension tickets to central-zone season-tickets for travel to the hinterland, and family travel cards.
