Two separate protests on Friday.
A strike of rail workers will affect Milan on Friday 8 February with two separate protests.
Ticket sales and customer service staff will strike for 23 hours, from 03.00 on Friday until 02.00 on Saturday morning. Since only one union (Orsa) has called the strike, participation is unlikely to be very high, but the extra workload on staff not striking will probably cause delays in service.
More directly, travelling workers such as train drivers and guards will strike from 09.00 to 17.00 on Friday. Although Trenitalia has guaranteed that the fast long-distance “Frecce” trains will run regularly, they advise checking the website for possible cancellations in other local and regional services before heading for the station.
In any case, the “protected slots” for commuters – 06.00 to 09.00 and 18.00 to 21.00 – will be respected, with normal service as required by law.
