Rail strike to hit Milan travellers

Trenord workers to down tools Friday 6 July.

Milan-based regional rail network Trenord has announced that strike action will hit their services on Friday 6 July from 09.00 to 17.00.

This period falls outside the morning and evening “protected windows” for commuters, and is thus exempt from strike-limiting regulations.

The industrial action will affect regional, suburban, airport and long-distance (within the region) connections, bringing delays, variations and cancellations, a Trenord statement said.

Trains departing before 09.00 and scheduled to arrive before 10.00 will run regularly, the statement added.

Milan-Cadorna to Malpensa airport and Malpensa to Stabio trains will be substituted by non-stop coach services which, however, unlike the trains, will not reach as far as Milano Centrale station.

And the strike action may also cause repercussions to the services following the end of the strike, Trenord warns.
