Second Milan Photo Week opens

Milan focuses on photography.

The second edition of Milan Photo Week (MPW) starts Monday 4 June, with exhibitions, workshops, talks, guided tours, editorial projects, openings, screenings and much more all across the city.

Among the highlights of the week’s educational projects are 10 scholarships offered to young photographers thanks to contributions by BNL and BNP Paribas banks and in partnership with Magnum Photos and Milan’s Triennale.

Also in the educational sector is the “Milan by night” project for the city’s photography schools, in cooperation with Samsung.

Milan’s Royal Palace will host four free exhibits, several discussions and a bookshop curated by Contrasto Editore.  Other exhibitions will be opened by the Brera Academy, Armani Silos, BASE Milano, Fondazione Prada, Fondazione Stelline, Frigoriferi Milanesi, Galleria Carla Sozzani, GAM Milano, MiBACT, MiCamera, MUFOCO and Palazzo Litta.

A “photo bar” in Casa Corona will be open for drinks every evening with screenings and talks, while in front of the Leica Gallery an urban set will be available for visitors to pose for portraits by professional photographers.

The MPW website carries full details of the over 150 events in the week’s calendar.
