From Wednesday 30 November, until further notice, diesel-powered vehicles with Euro 3-class engines and without fine particle filters may no longer circulate in Milan.

The city hall reached this decision on Monday after the particle count registered by the atmosphere testing stations in the city again exceeded the permitted levels.

This order adds the Euro 3 diesels to the list already in force: petrol-powered vehicles with Euro 0-class motors, diesel vehicles of classes Euro 0 to 2 without filters, two-stroke vehicles with Euro 1-class motors, and diesel-powered vehicles including motorcycles, three-wheelers and four-wheelers with Euro 0 and Euro 1-class motors.

The municipality estimates there are almost 250,000 Euro 3 diesel vehicles in the province, or 12 percent of all registrations.
