Sunday 1 March sees the third vertical circuit race up the 710 steps of the Pirelli skyscraper in the heart of Milan. Racing up skyscrapers has now become a popular international sport, with the first race of the 2009 season up the New York Empire State building on 3 February. After the Pirellone race in Milan the next appointment is in Berlin on 1 June, then Taiwan up the Taipei Tower on 14 June, followed by Vienna on 7 November and Singapore on 15 November. There will probably also be races up skyscrapers in Sydney, Barcelona and Dubai. The record for the run up the Pirelli building is 3 minutes 30 seconds.
