10-12 August. Plenty of activities in Milan.
From the treasures of the Sforza Castle to the bouncy castles on the Idroscalo, there’s plenty to do for old and young this weekend in Milan.
Every Saturday at 15.00, free guided visits to the museums in the city’s central Sforza Castle show off the masterpieces in the collections, and reveal the most unusual and little-known treasures.
Up until 25 August, Milan’s Triennale in Viale Alemagna is offering a free guided tour daily at 11.30 of the exhibition Franco Toselli and the Artists of “portofranc”: works collected by Franco Toselli, an Italian gallery owner best known around the world for his rapid response to the avant-garde movements from the 1960s onwards.
Back to the Castle on Saturday evening at 21.00 for the first of this summer’s free concerts in the cool of the evening. This weekend the Milano Chamber Orchestra will accompany singers of the Italian Opera Gala offering a selection of the most beautiful arias from operas by Puccini, Mascagni and Verdi.
Nearby in the Highline Gallery in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, visitors can stroll on the 250 mt. rooftop walkway, to almost touch the dome of the Galleria with one hand and the sky with the other, fascinated by a 360° view over Milan and the surrounding Alps. It is open Saturday and Sunday from 11.30 to 21.00, with the entrance in Via Silvio Pellico 2.
Across town at the Alzaia Naviglio Grande 115, the popular farmers’ market will be open from 07.30 to 14.00 on Saturday, offering fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese, salami, breads, biscuits, oil and wines and more, including bio produce, all from the fertile land surrounding Milan. There is a convenient car-park close to the market.
And at the Last Beach Lido at Milan’s Idroscalo, kids from 6 years up will find a new waterborne play area with slides, bouncy castles and other attractions, open from 08.00 to 21.00, while grown-ups can relax at the solarium or use the fitness exercise equipment. The entrance to the Last Beach Lido is on the eastern shore of the Idroscalo in the Zona Bosco area.
