4 Oct-14 Nov. The 24th edition of Milano Musica Festival takes off at 16.00 on Sunday 4 October with a travelling concerto for five bands, playing five national anthems, which will start from five different points in the city, converge in the iconic gallery near the Duomo, and then return – still playing – to their starting point.
Appointments for the festival are 25 concerts in 10 different concert halls, auditoria, churches and museums, including the Teatro alla Scala, which will host two of the concerts.
This year’s edition is dedicated to composer and conductor Bruno Maderna (1920-1973), who taught at Milan conservatory in the 1950s, before moving to Germany, where he spent the rest of his life. Nine of the 16 concerts in this year’s programme will include his works, and six of the talks will be on aspects of his talent.
The festival will also include an exhibition on Maderna in the Museo del Novecento and two screenings of a historical performance of Wozzek by Alban Berg, re-elaborated as a video production directed by Maderna.
