1-24 Dec. In central Piazza del Duomo.
Strollers in the square outside Milan’s iconic cathedral will be able to enjoy a free concert every evening until Christmas, as the annual musical Advent calendar opens a window at a time.
Starting on Thursday 1 December, a musician will open a lighted window of the municipal building at 18.00 and play classical Christmas themes for 30 minutes. The next evening, two musicians will play from two windows, and so on until a full orchestra of 24 musicians provides the concert for Christmas Eve.
The performers are members of the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana and the non-profit SONG Association. Their repertoire of Austrian and international Yuletide classics is this year sponsored by the Austrian national tourist authority, together with Milan city hall.
