Baroque concert in Milan’s Castello Sforzesco

23 Feb. Milan students offer live concert.

Young musicians from Milan’s Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado will perform Locatelli’s The Weeping of Arianna (Concerto Grosso in E flat) in the city’s Castello Sforzesco on Saturday 23 January at 16.00.

The concert is the second in a series by talented young musicians from countries around the world, including Brazil, Argentina, Poland, Japan, France, Spain, Greece and Chile, studying at the city’s prestigious conservatory.

Pietro Antonio Locatelli was a composer and virtuoso violinist from Bergamo, a pupil of Corelli in Rome, who moved to Amsterdam, where he died in 1764. He was a predecessor of Paganini, and played a decisive role in the development of violin technique.

This concert will be under the baton of Stefano Montanari.
