Until 18 Oct. Milan’s Teatro alla Scala hosts this year’s festival of international orchestras, with 14 of the world’s most famous orchestras, for Expo 2015. Many of the orchestras in the programme, from eight different countries, have never played in Milan before.
The season opened on 2 May with the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, returning to Milan after an absence of 10 years. The second concert in the programme will be by the Wiener Philharmoniker conducted by Mariss Jansons, playing on 25 June.
La Scala website warns that some adjustments may need to be made to the published programme, so it is recommended to consult the website, where the definitive programme will be constantly updated.
There will be five concerts in August and La Scala will be open continuously until 31 October for the first time in its history, especially for Expo 2015.
