24 May-8 Sept. HangarBicocca hosts the complex and visionary works by the American artist Mike Kelley (1954-2012), who died recently. Kelley’s multifaceted production focused on education, modernism, popular culture, initiation rites and musical subcultures. On display are a series of videos, installations and sculptures, created in a game of continuous references and citations. He was fascinated by the punk movement and was inspired by Christian iconography, surrealism, psychoanalyses, folklore and caricature. He collaborated with Paul McCarthy, Jim Shaw, Tony Oursler and Sonic Youth.
