24 May-15 July 2012. Rotonda della Besana displays a series of 80 paintings and engravings by the Bosnian artist Safet Zec.
His work concentrate on sober tables and humble homes, paying homage to great masters of the caliber of Rembrandt and Bellini.
Zec was born in Rogatica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in 1943 and currently lives and works in Venice. Since the age of twelve he discovered his passion for painting and drawing. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts of Belgrade in 1969 and later became an exponent of the Poetic Realism artistic movement. At the beginning of the 1990s he was considered one of the most important artists of his country and represented former Yugoslavia in many international exhibitions. In 1992 when the war began, Zec moved to Italy, where he started to work on new paintings, drawings and engravings.
