Francesca Gabbiani’s Lookouts

1 March-28 April 2012. This exhibition, entitled Lookouts, displays the works by the young Italian, Los Angeles based artist Francesca Gabbiani.

Gabbiani is known for her great collages of colourful papers, which portray subtly disturbing interiors and landscapes by the saturated atmosphere and full of omen, which are often inspired by cinematographic sceneries or horror movies.

Her complex technique consists in cutting in detail and overlapping forms of paper. This procedure deconstructs the image through colours and then reconstructs it through stratification. The layers create a perspective depth, which is at the same time pictorial and three-dimensional. The artist reconstructs the memory in the most literal sense of the word, putting pieces together in order to create images full of desire and suspense.

Tue-Sun 15.00-19.00.
